HAPPY NEW YEAR!
What a year this has been… it has been filled with many amazing moments, but also some very saddening times. There has been ups and downs for both me and my family. But I look forward to a new year to see what another 365 days will bring. I hope for good health for everyone I know and happiness.
My Blog started around this time last year with a Blog Post titled ‘Welcoming Something New‘ and that was where this all started. I set my self 17 goals that I was hoping to achieve by the end of the year, and I am so proud to say I have completed almost all of them. New Years Resolutions are difficult to stick to and tend to get broken fairly quickly. Instead I set targets and aspirations that I was hoping to achieve.
You can read all of my goals that were set in the blog post, but I decided to do a reflection on some of the ones that I am the most proud of this year.
This has been the year of exploration. I have seen more of the world than I ever have in the past. It began with a Trip to London with Jon, after that it was a Ski Trip to Austria, then my 18th Amsterdam, Llanduno with my Mum and Scotland in September. Then I ended the year in Chester with my best friends. I have written Blog Posts about almost all of my adventures, feel free to have a look at the Travel Tab in my blog if you fancy.
The most adventurous one out of this list was buying a plane ticket and travelling to Amsterdam. It was something that was a fleeting thought in my mind when I first made the list at the start of the year. I didn’t think it would come true. As the months went on, I wanted to have an 18th Birthday to remember. I remembered seeing a photo online, in months previous to me booking the holiday. It was one of the most magical botanical gardens I had ever seen. It was that which made my decision final, when choosing where to visit for my Birthday. So of course Amsterdam it was and the holiday I amazing! I look forward to more adventures this year.
This was another Milestone which I had no idea I was going to hit this year. I had zero interest in learning to drive at the start of the year, but because my mum needed help getting out and about I decided to learn to drive. I took my first driving lesson in May and by November I had passed my driving test. It was very stressful at times and was difficult to grasp at first. But now I’m just starting to enjoy my new-found freedom. Not forgetting the fact that I also got a car as well!
Not long after leaving school I also managed to get an Apprenticeship in Graphic Design which was something I was hoping to achieve. I left school in June after my last exam and, by August I had landed myself a job. In total I only went to two jobs and the second one was a success! In the process of that it naturally lead to me completing another goal for the year which was to learn Adobe Software, I am much more familiar with it now than I was at the start of the year. I really enjoy using it now and it isn’t as daunting as it once was.
Now Onto 2018 Goals
Continuing on from last years goals and aspirations. I have decided to make a few ideas of things that I would like to achieve, not so much a list but things I will strive to complete this year.
Last year I went to two different countries (if you count all the countries the coach went through on the way to Austria it makes the grand total 7!) This year I would like to visit more countries, since I got a job it means I have a bit more cash flow to travel. So I’m looking forward to some weekend trips away.
I would also love to go on a short road trip, take my car for a spin and visit somewhere new. I visited new places in the UK this year and some were just a short train journey away. So whether it is by car, train or plane I have many ideas of areas to I’d love to visit!
Last year I completed my A-Levels in art. I had been painting almost everyday completing art work for more than four years without fail. Once I left school I haven’t touched a paint brush since. Which is such a shame as I really grew to love watercolours the first few months of 2017. So one of my personal goals for this new year is to get back into painting, maybe complete a sketchbook. Not to mention sharing a few of those creations here on the blog.
I also feel like I need to push my self to complete a new challenge. This past year was very difficult with family life, but I pushed on and I am so proud of everything I have been able to achieve. I might pick up a new hobby this year, try something different. Or, I might challenge myself to learn Adobe After Effects and Premier Pro. Maybe 2018 will be the year when I learn how to edit videos!?
Last but certainly not least! In 2017 I left school with the grades I needed and got a job in my dream career field. This year I’m looking to do more with my photography and my own personal branding. I would love to progress more with my photography work, with opportunities to work with more people and advance further in the field.
Additionally I look forward to seeing where another year of blogging takes me. There are almost 500 followers to this blog and I couldn’t be more delighted to see where this goes. So thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read these blog posts this past year!
Here’s to another year…
