Four days into December and it’s time for The Christmas Tag. I have seen a few people have a go at these so I felt it was to have another go at one of these tags. I completed one back in Autumn and I had a lot of fun doing that! So here it is…
What Is Your Favourite Christmas Film?
It’s not really a Christmas film but it is something that always comes on the televisions this time of year. That film is Harry Potter, to be more specific it is Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone! I always find myself wanting to rewatch the first few films whenever the weather gets colder and the nights get darker. It’s probably because ITV usually starts showing these types of films on repeat every year around Christmas time. Which is why the Potter films are my favourite for this time of year.
Is Your Christmas Tree Real Or Fake?
Our tree is always a fake one. That is mostly because of the pines dropping onto the floor and causing a big mess, not to mention the hassle of getting rid of the tree when you take the decorations down. So the reason why we don’t have a real one is just because of the effort that goes into dealing with it. The fake tree that we have is so nice, it comes with frosted snow on the branches and a few festive ornaments already on there. So things are kept minimal. As much as I would love a real tree, it’s just too much hassle.
What Is Your Favourite Christmas Song?
My favourite Christmas song has to be ‘Merry Christmas’ by Slade. I love this song the most, and it gets me in such a festive mood. The best part of the song is when one of the band members screams out ‘IT’S CHRISTMASSSSSS!!!’ I usually catch my self mouthing that part of the song in almost a silent scream as I don’t want to alert those around me. I definitely love the classic songs, so Wizzard, The Pogues, and Wham have all created amazing songs that makes it really feel like Christmas for me. The songs from new artists just don’t seem as special theres something missing. So classic it is!
What Is Your Favourite Christmas Scent?
I love the smell I get when I walk into my Nan and grandads house on Christmas Day and you are greeted with an amazing aroma of Turkey cooking in the oven and vegetables on the hob. It feels so homely and familiar. I can smell the Turkey already.
Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
Every year without fail the whole family goes round Nan’s for a hot pork sandwich. This has been a tradition for as long as I can remember and it’s always great to get the family gathered round. We also meet the day after round my Nan and Grandad’s for a delicious Christmas Meal and nothing can top this!
Do You Open Any Presents On Christmas Eve?
No. I have never opened any presents on Christmas Eve. I always have to wait till Christmas Day which isn’t too difficult now since I’ve gotten older. There was no such thing as a lie in on Christmas Day I would be up at the crack of dawn. But aren’t most kids like that anyway? Maybe opening a single present on Christmas Eve might have helped with the excitement, but now that doesn’t matter so much.
What Tops Your Christmas Tree?
Usually Santa Claus, a bit of a weird tree topper. But I always wanted that one on the top as it has always been my job to finish the tree and help with the decorations. I think it might be time for us to look for a different topper this year. One that is a bit more updated, but I still love Mr Santa Claus who sits proudly on the top of the tree.
What Is The Best Thing About Christmas For You?
Spending time with family by far is the best thing about Christmas. Presents are nice but that isn’t as special, if you can’t share it with loved ones. So that is the best thing about Christmas for me.
What Is Your Favourite Festive Food Or Treat?
Apart from the obvious choice, Turkey Dinner and Christmas Pudding there a few other food favourites. Instead of putting presents under the tree we usually put sweets and chocolates so you can munch on them throughout the duration that the decorations are up in the house. So there’s always a whole host of our favourite snacks throughout December. But a recent find for my favourite treat has got to be ‘Lebkuchen’ these are iced German Spiced Cookies and they taste AMAZING! The perfect mix of sweet and spice in one delicious cookie.
What Is On The Top Of Your Christmas Wish List This Year?
If money was no object I would love to get a drone so I could fly it around above beautiful landscapes and take aesthetic photographs. I think it would be so cool to get a different perspective on things. This year is going to be a bit more low key, I’ve let my family know what things would be practical for me to use, so gifts that are really useful for me to have. Such as new camera accessories or something as simple as an SD card. There’s definitely a camera related theme this year. But any gift I am thankful for as it is the thought that counts.
