Hope you all doing well on this fabulous Autumnal day. If you know me you know that I love this time of year, there’s just something special about the changing leaves and cosy nights. I have seen the Autumn Tag floating around the internet for a while now and since we are in October and well into this wonderful season I felt I would give the tag a go!
What Signifies The Start Of Autumn For You?
I’d like to think Autumn starts on the first day of September but the weather is always too warm as the Summer heat just won’t go away. So when the trees start changing colour and the frosty mornings and cool air roll in, it starts to make it seem like Autumn. Not to mention needing to layer up and wear cosy jumpers! Who doesn’t love wearing cosy jumpers when the weather starts to get colder.
Favourite Fall Scent?
There are a few scents that I love this time of year. The first one would be when you can smell the log fires burning away in houses, the smell wafts through the chilly air and it has such a familiar scent. With that bonfires also smell amazing but it does stink out your clothes a bit so you go home smelling of fire which isn’t always amazing. Another smell that I really love this time of year isn’t candles shockingly it’s the smell of the air after there has been heavy rainfall.
Favourite Autumn Colour?
Mustard. Hands down it has to be mustard, without a doubt. I used to be the girl of all thing black, white and grey but this past year I’ve been dabbling in colour and mustard is one that is so appealing to me this year. I’ve gone out my comfort zone and dared to go bright in mustard. Not to mention this colour goes so well with the tones of this season so all the more reason to wear it more.
Favourite Fall Drink?
Now I’m not really a fan of drinking of too many hot beverages but as soon as the weather begins to get a little bit more chilly I find myself reaching for a good old cup of tea just to help warm me up. So I guess this is my favourite warm drink but on the contrast I really love Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Frappe and it becomes my chosen cold drink of the season. I adore the flavours, in the cold version.. but I’m not a huge fan on the latte one. Each to their own though, what’s your preference for fall hot drinks?
What is the best way to spend a rainy day?
Ooh I love this question. I’d say my favourite way to spend rainy days is put on the fairy lights to make the room all cosy when it’s a little grey and dark out. Not to mention I put on YouTube or a film whilst writing blog posts or designing away in Adobe. I really enjoy tucking into some Homemade Soup, my favourite would be Covent Garden Tomato Soup, the ingredients are really unique and the flavours are so special to the recipe.
Last year when I was taking my A-Levels in Fine Art there was nothing I loved more than whipping out the watercolours and spending the day painting in my cosy jumper cuddled up to a water bottle as the rain was lashing against the window. If I get time this year, I would really like to get back into painting as I find it so calming.
What is your favourite Autumn movie?
Harry Potter of course! The first movie will always be my favourite and I keep on rewatching it. When the weather gets cooler and Autumn is in full force, I find myself humming the theme tune which basically means… Girl, why aren’t you watching the movies yet! So this would have to be up there with my ultimate movie for Autumn. I have never seen Hocus Pocus but everyone seems to rave on about it so I might have to watch it this year! Have you seen this film, if so what do you love about it??
What is your most loved outdoor Autumn activity?
Going on a hike or walk around the park or some nature trails with my camera in hand is my most loved activity. Anywhere I can go and take pictures will always make me happy but this time of year makes it particularly magical when the leaves are turning and you get the foggy, misty mornings. Its such a beautiful spectacle and creates some really lovely photos.
Something that I haven’t celebrated much in recently years is bonfire night but I really love seeing the fireworks at local parks and the atmosphere is always lovely at those venues. Also it’s nice when neighbours decide to put on a mini show as you get to enjoy them without wasting any money on the fireworks. If I’m honest I find fireworks really irritating on every other day except the 5th November as there really isn’t any need to be setting them of in the middle of October..
What is your favourite Autumn fashion trend?
There has been a few Autumnal fashion trends that I have been really loving so far. The first one would be Chenille Jumpers, I recently brought my first ever one this week and its a lovely design, not to mention the material is so soft and snuggly. And lets just say I’m on the hunt for another one but in a different colour, and you guessed it… in the colour Mustard.
Another thing I have been loving which I took a little gamble with is my Aviator Jacket. Previously I didn’t own anything like it, so this was a first of its kind for my wardrobe this year. I noticed this jacket is actually quite popular this season with so many brands releasing their own versions. But, I don’t have the budget for them so thank goodness Primark came to the rescue. With an amazing fur lined Aviator at quite an affordable price. But by far these are my two favourite fashion trends this season and I just love both so much! Do you have any trends you have been loving this time of year??
So this has been quite a long post and I have been rambling on about all the reasons why I love Autumn. This has been a really enjoyable tag to do and the questions were really interesting. So if your interested give this tag a go, I would love to hear what your favourite things are for this time of year.
If you had to sum up Autumn with one characteristic or personality trait what would it be and why? Let me know in the comments I would love to hear your responses!
