So today is World Photography Day! Which means it is a wonderful time of year to share photographs you have taken and chat to fellow photographers. I’m sure you are all aware of my love of taking pictures through my blog posts. But what you see is only a fraction of what I have taken over the past year.
The wonderful thing about photography is the sense of community. It brings so many people together through one common interest. Whether you take pictures on your phone or on a DSLR it really doesn’t matter. For me my love of photography all began three years ago when I purchased an iPhone 5. That was the device that started it all of. It began with me taking pictures of everything around me. From then on there was no stopping me from taking pictures…
It got to the point where photography was getting pretty serious for me so I received a Canon Camera as an early Christmas present and this was when things started to get more serious for me. I ventured out more and found a style and topic I really loved taking pictures of.
I’ve been quite passionate about photography for 3 years now but I still get so excited when I take pictures, as it is one of the things in life that I thoroughly enjoy doing. There is still a lot to learn and a long way to go in terms of my journey, but that is what makes it so fun. It has to start from somewhere and it doesn’t matter what device or camera you take pictures on it, it is your passion and drive is and how you see the world around you.
I have so many photos to show you at a future date but I’m not here to show off what I can do or all of the photographs I have taken, I just want to try to inspire you to head out and take a picture of something you saw that you liked today. As well as talking about people who have inspired me.
For me my passion began with landscapes and taking pictures of the world around me. I talked about it more in my blog post Camera Equipment where I showed the first photos I ever took on a DSLR as well as the equipment I use that allows me to create these images despite it being pretty basic and minimal.
With anything in the creative field there is always something or someone who inspires you. I’d like to credit my Granddad who has always been the photographer in the family. He is always there when I need some help and advice on how to do something. Additionally I have a few favourite photographers on social media who have really helped me fall in love with photography.
I think you will find I get a lot of my inspiration from their work as it is truly captivating. I always go back to their accounts to see what they’re doing as well as seeing the progression of their own art styles.
I’d like to wish you all a very creative and happy world photography day. I hope you are inspired to go out and capture the world around you. I will be back again next year talking about photography, of course!
