I started my blog back in January with a post called Welcoming Something New it was where I talked about my goals and aspirations for 2017 and as of July 1st we passed the halfway mark for this year. I felt like it was time for me to check in on my goals and see how I was doing.
Looking back on my first blog post I feel like I have grown much more as a person and as a blogger and I am more comfortable about communicating my thoughts across. A lot has changed in those 6 months and I think it is important to re-evaluate goals and progress further towards higher aspirations. For my list I set goals relating to travel, personal as well as career and these all targeted different areas of my life.
In regards to travel I think I have done really well in achieving a lot of things on my list. At the very start of the year I went to London for the day in celebration of Jonatan’s 18th Birthday this was the very first thing on the list and I was so happy to tick this off and really explore parts of London that I had never seen before. This was an amazing day and I had so much fun! Not long after that was my Ski Trip to Austria, this was the first time I had ever spent a good amount of time abroad and I was doing something I had never done before, it took a brutal toll on my knees but it was definitely worth every moment.
The other things that was on my Travel Resolutions include making a trip to Scotland and buying a plane ticket. I am quite proud to say that my lovely Aunt booked a trip for us to visit Scotland in September as a late birthday present. This was the one thing I requested and I am so grateful for her generosity. So that is something I am looking forward to. Additionally I took the plunge and brought two plane tickets to Amsterdam, one for me and on for Jonatan, I have never been on a plane before so it is something I am anxious about, but at the same time I am so excited about exploring a new country and learning more about the history and culture there. The one thing left for me to tick off the travel list is going on more hikes which I haven’t had the chance to do just yet but hopefully I will get a chance to go on in the following months to come.
The next thing that was on my list was personal goals, I haven’t really ticked off as many as I would like but it is something that I do need to focus on more but there is still plenty of time to do so. I have managed to start driving and I think the lessons are going really well, not only that but I got my first car!! It’s a little Toyota Yaris and I love it to bits. So I was quite proud of my self for achieving such a huge goal at only 17. I also managed to upgrade some of my piercing jewellery to some stunning rose gold pieces, there is still a few left to go so this is a slow going process but I don’t really mind. Other than that I haven’t really had chance to complete any other things on the list, I’m too young to set up my Etsy Shop (bummer) and I am still on the hunt for a Yoga Class and Jewellery Making Class near me but there is still 6 months left to scope them out.
Last but certainly not least is my career goals I have not long left school after completing my A-Levels so it is still early days for me in regards to obtaining a Graphic Design Apprenticeship but I am hopeful and still very excited as to where things will take me. I recently wrote a blog post about My University Alternative and why I feel like an Apprenticeship is the best option as I would love to get a job by the end of it. At the same time I would be able to build up more of a portfolio for my designs as well as becoming more educated on the Adobe Creative Cloud. So these career goals really do feed into one another.
After looking back at this list I have managed to achieve quite a few of my goals and I am really proud of how far I have come. Did you set yourself goals at the start of the year? Have you managed to achieve many of them??
