12 Hours in Paris

12 Hours in Paris

Just a little over a year ago I took the plunge in getting a passport and traveling to Paris. But, only for one day. I didn’t fly there, and I didn’t go by Train. The journey consisted of a very long, emphasis on long, drive to the city.

Once we reached the port of Dover it was time to board the ferry across the English Channel. It was pitch black on the way to France so me and my travelling companions didn’t get to see much. This gave us the time to explore the ship and get changed into more suitable clothes.

After dozing off on the roads leading to France, I woke up as the sun was beginning to rise, it wasn’t long till we would be at Paris. It was time for the adventure to begin.

The walk up the the Eiffel Tower was truly stunning. The perfectly cut trees to the left, with the beige colour footpath under foot mixed in with the quiet scenery in the early morning hours was so nice. One thing to mention was there was so many runners. I’ve never seen so many.

After slowly making our way down the park towards the Eiffel Tower, and buying a few souvenirs along the way, it was time to brave the climb up the steps to embrace the beautiful view of the city. And boy was those steps gruelling. The view was completely worth it, seeing Paris from another perspective. I had my trusted iPhone 5 at hand and I was ready to take pictures.

After catching my breath on the lift down to the ground it was time to continue exploring. We walked along the Seine River towards the Jardin des Tuileries, it was such a beautiful park. They have some of the most flavoursome and delightful looking ice-creams, I’m yet to taste something as good. Last stop before heading back to the car was the Louvre Museum. This building was truly spectacular and the architecture was quite something.

The day was drawing to a close and it was time to head home. The boat back was a lot more relaxing with the gentle rocking side to side. I slept most the journey back but awoke just in time to get a Chai Latte; definitely put me into a deep sleep when I got home. Safe and sound after an exciting 12 Hours in Paris. I just wish I had more time to explore France.

It was the perfect holiday and I cannot wait for the next.
