Minimal Room Decor For Small Spaces

Minimal Room Decor For Small Spaces

Hey! I thought I would kick of the new year with a blog post based on some minimal room decor. Who doesn’t love a good scroll through Pinterest looking for some inspiration for their own homes and rooms. I have quite a few boards on there and I would say I drew a lot of inspiration from that over the years. So here is my version of a ‘Pinterest Bedroom for Small Spaces’ Wardrobes

A lot of my room has fitted wardrobes in it, they were fitted many years ago now when I was about 10 years old. Sharps were the company we went with and they have truly stood the test of time. This takes up a large portion of my room and completely covered one of my walls completely. In a room as small as mine the storage that these wardrobes offer are so useful as it is the floor to ceiling. I have a mirror on the one door it’s almost full length (except the handle cuts my outfits in half!).

These wardrobes have been so practical over the years, they have adapted as I have grown older. On the far left cupboard I have a door hanger which is simple yet so useful. On the evening I will hang up outfits I will wear the following day or a coat ready for going out.

Being in such a small room means I need to be wise about storage. I like to keep my desk clean and relatively clutter free so I opted for storage boxes underneath my desk. A lift up bed also offers heaps of storage!

I have always loved leather beds so when I was on the hunt for a new now there was only two criteria’s. The first was it being leather and the second was storage underneath. This freed up a lot of space in my room, meaning I could store all my art materials underneath. I also have four large storage boxes from IKEA which do an amazing job at holding all my items and hiding away any junk.

Now onto my favourite part, and that’s the bit that keeps on changing every couple of years. Right now it is a minimalistic, plant haven. The latest additions in my room is the Muji Aroma Diffuser. This was a gift from my mum for Christmas and I love it to pieces. You can actually see the smoke being kicked out in the bottom right hand side of the picture. I used to burn incense in my room but the smoke would get overwhelming at times. I find the diffuser is a less dense and I can change the scent up often with the oils.

Other items that are in my room include..

Kvissle – This is the cable management that usable sits next to my desk. It’s long enough to store an extension cable inside and hide all the wires away when I’m not using it.

Forså – A classic lamp, I don’t like overhead lighting in rooms. So the soft glow projected off of lamps on either end of my room provide enough lighting without being too harsh. I used to have Waterfall Fairy Lights behind my bed but the wiring of those were a bit dodgy after two years of consistent use. I will be replacing them soon as I love the way they look at night.

Silverån – This was a recent purchase that I made in December. There’s a bit of an awkward space between my desk and the door, so only small things can go there. Over the years many items have come and gone as I have struggled to find something to fit area. The latest out of the collection is the storage box. All my art materials are situated in there and it is the perfect height for my cable management and clock. On the floor next to that is my Wooden Artists Model which I have had for so many years now. I felt it was best suited next to the box as it ties in well with the Art Section

Skålberg – This chair has definitely had some use! It was my daily seat for the past two years of A-Levels and it has seen many a late night revising. The space underneath my doesn’t allow for a wide chair so I had to get one without any arms, so it could fit underneath. It also works out quite nicely for me as I tend to cross my legs on the chair as that is how I feel most comfortable working. Without the arms it means my legs don’t get knocked against the sides. To make the chair look a bit more classy I added a Sheepskin Rug. I managed to find that when I was in Scotland and I’m so happy that I picked it up, it is the perfect addition to my room.

I’m sure you can tell by now that my room is mostly IKEA furniture.

I’d also like to mention another piece of room decor from a wonderful company from PhotoWall. They were kind enough to send me a canvas to go in my room. I haven’t had chance to drill a hole in my wall yet, but when I do this canvas will be taking pride and place in my room. We have very thick walls, which usually burn through drills quicker than holes can get created. So I will need to put a lot of elbow grease into getting a screw actually in the wall. The canvas will looking amazing when it’s up.

‘We are a Swedish company with a passion for design and quality. Our wall murals and canvas prints are environmentally friendly, fire-retardant in accordance with Swedish standards and do not fade in sunlight. All our motifs are selected with care.’

The shipping of this canvas was incredibly fast and arrived within a few days of order, even around the Christmas period shipping was really good. The canvas material itself comes in a role with a few pieces of wood and tools to help construct the canvas print into an actual canvas. It took me about 10 minutes to put together and it was foolproof so you can’t really go wrong.

Build Your Own Canvas

What is a really nice feature of their website is the option to choose from one of the many images across their website but also the chance to add your own photo. I chose to use one of theirs as I was to indecisive to pick one of my own pictures. You can either get the picture as a canvas, in a variety of sizes, or as a wall mural. So it is the perfect way to add some finishing touches to the home.

If you are interested in getting a few pieces of art work for your home, or you are after a unique way to add your own touch then I really recommend Photowall. You can use your own images, or select one of theirs the choice is really up to you. I have had such a positive experience from them. If you want to read a few more reviews on the company then you can visit TrustedPilot, Photowall has almost a perfect score from nearly 2000 reviews. So it a company I can trust.
