Last week me and mum decorated the house, which is surprising early for us. We usually put it up this weekend. But since we got the interior updated, the living room was looking a little bare so the decorations helped to make the home seem cosy. So here are a few photos of our Christmas Home Decor. It’s nothing too fancy but it’s what we have grown to know and love.
Saying that, there were a few additional pieces added to the home this year. Most noticeable in my room, I added a really cute Christmas tree that I picked up from IKEA. It’s so small, but it goes well in my room and looks adorable with the tiny baubles and red ribbon. I kept the decorating really simple on the tree and I love the way that it has turned out.
This is placed next to my bed on the night stand. It goes really nicely up the corner, I placed it in a gold plant pot with tinsel around the base to make it look super fancy.
The colour scheme in our home is mostly red and gold with lots of greenery. There is always a ‘swag’ that goes above our bay window, not to mention the Christmas tree of course. We don’t actually add any decorations onto the tree as comes with pine cones and berries already attached. Only one little robin is hung onto the tree, and this is something that I brought for mum a few years ago now from the German Christmas Market.
For the past couple of years mum has been adding freshly picked Holly from my Nan and Grandad’s garden to the home. It adds that something extra to the decorations, but it doesn’t cost a penny to get. We usually add this across various surfaces to add a bit more festivity to different areas.
Finally, we add a wreath to the front door! I wrote a blog post a few days ago, on how to make your own wreath. It’s not too late to have a go at making one, if you are interested in having a go.
