Exploring Glen Coe | Scotland

Exploring Glen Coe | Scotland

Glen Coe, the lands that have inspired many and has featured in so many amazing films! Including some of my person favourite films, Harry Potter. When I was first looking at places to visit in Scotland, there was one location that really stood out. It was Glen Coe.

During my time up in Oban, there was an opportunity to visit Glen Coe as part of a day trip. So, of course, I jumped at the opportunity to go. I was finally seeing the beautiful lands that inspired the whole trip.

The only problem was when I got there, a huge film crew had closed down all viewing spots for the vehicles. It turns out they were filming ‘Mary Queen of Scots’. So it was only a passing visit through Glen Coe but I still tried to take as many pictures as I possibly could.

Overall the views were amazing! I just found it a shame that there was nowhere to stop and take pictures… so the photos you are seeing are from my phone from inside a coach. It still makes an awesome story seeing a massive film crew in the process of creating a film. You can guarantee I will be watching the film to see how they ended up filming the location. Also so I can say “I’ve been there”!

Glen Coe was just a small section of the day. The coach ended up travelling to lots of different places so I got to see lots of Scotland that day. With Lochs and national parks in the local area.

Overall I really enjoyed my time in Glen Coe. If you ever get the chance I fully recommend you visit there. The views are just amazing! I cannot wait to go back again and go hiking in the area. If you are interested in reading about my other adventures in Scotland then click > here <

Have you ever been to Glen Coe, or anywhere in Scotland? If so did you enjoy it, I would love to hear about your experiences.

I loved the Glen Coe the one time I went! Intimidatingly breathtaking. My husband and I stayed in a hobbit house there. 🙂 It was lovely.

What time of year did you go, I’m sure the views change as the seasons do. I agree so much with the views being intimidating! A hobbit house!?!? I have not heard of that? What was it like staying in one, I’m so curious now 😂😅

We went in the summer, and it ended up being HOT and sunny the entire time! I was surprised, as the entirety of the UK is reputed to be gray/rainy, haha. We lucked out. 🙂 But the hobbit house was lush! It’s basically a tubular cabin. I definitely recommend trying one out. 🙂 x

I think Game of Thrones has filmed practically everywhere in the world! Mostly Ireland, but after doing some research I have found out they filmed part of the pilot episode in Scotland at Doune, it was the location that served as Winterfell. Which is pretty cool.
